(L)Awfully good times...

Sad to see that Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of the original Dungeons & Dragons system, died yesterday.

Some of my best friends and better memories involve D&D in some fashion or another, and if that makes me a geek, so be it. I have a +2 Thick Skin, and I made my saving throw versus Insults and Dragon Breath, so feel free to make fun of me as much as you want.

I remember the first time I played D&D: In the summer 'gaming' program you put on at Wacoochee.

Wow that was so long ago...RPGs gave me a fearless imagination and the ability to become anything I desired, if only briefly.

Seems that one man, even by doing something that many would consider trifling or insignificant, can impact countless lives for the better.

That does feel like a long time ago; if I remember correctly, I think we even had a t-shirt with a chess piece on it? If that didn't scream "geek," I am not sure what would. And I think that was okay.

Damn, B. A D and D geek, huh? :) HAHAHAHAHAH

I used to work at a bookstore where these guys used to meet every Saturday to play D and D in the backroom. They all left their mama's homes with their bags of Cheetos and Mountain Dew and made lewd comments my way when I'd pass by doing my job. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Funtimes. I kinda miss those nerds. :)

Wow! If Wacoochee was a long time ago, what does that say for our first forays with Paladins and Knox Blox? I recently heard a good interview with Gygax on NPR about his start in gaming, choose your own adventure books, and the work he was now doing with video games. Fascinating dude.
